Pluck me from the earth
and anoint me with blood.
My solace is a velvet lined box
or slender finger.
Be gentle when you carve.
Cleaving my whole,
to get to the precious center so you may inspect my
colour cut and clarity.
I’ll shatter your teeth with a caress,
cracked enamel whistling a tune
of eternity.
Polish me and clean me,
put me under a microscope
and appraise my
table facets and crown.
Make me bright
and brilliant.
Allow me to bring my starshine into view,
from the security
of six prongs of platinum.
See how I flash prismatic
next to white mink
and cherries in the show.
Watch how I take in
and reflect
the world back at you.
Keeping looking
and you’ll find me
waiting for you to open the drawer.
