It was my last year at Saint Leo when I wrote Venus of Livorgnio, and I was reeaally into Baumgartner Fine Art Restoration videos. He was cleaning a painting of a woman, and when he revealed her clean, newly varnished face, I wondered what it would be like too see the world from her eyes. To be able to be made new again was a revolutionary concept to me.
